MUDGEE COACH TOUR 2026

Hi fellow Probians,
On Wednesday July the first, a group of very tired members assembled at the gates of Antegra estate at 6:30 am to board a Coach to Mudgee. The coach ran a little late then we had to drive to Central to pick up more passengers and on to Northmead for our final pickup. I must admit that looking at some of the later passengers, our group looked like Olympic Athletes by comparison.
Once we were all aboard, our Coach Driver Colin gave a running commentary of very informative information as we travelled along. Our first stop was in Leura in the Blue Mountains for Morning Tea; we all scattered to different Cafe's then back on board for a trip to Lithgow for lunch. We were surprised by the delicious lunch as we were expecting sandwiches. After lunch, we continued on towards Mudgee, with more informative information from Colin, we drove through Mudgee and onto a Winery. Pieter Van Gent Winery, where we were offered several wines to taste and purchase. Following this visit we continued on back into Mudgee and to our accommodation. This was all very well organised and our host Andrew was very helpful in getting us all into our rooms so we could freshen up before dinner.
Our Dinner was a Christmas in July, the room was decorated and a Christmas animated video was running, once we were all seated a nice young lady, one of the employees sang a range of Christmas and country songs while we tucked into our Pumpkin soup, then Glazed ham and Pork with roast veg, and followed up by Christmas pudding with brandy custard. Could have done with more custard.
Thursday Morning, we were treated to a delicious cooked breakfast, all you could eat, then once we were full we scrambled back aboard our coach all searching for our allocated seats as they were rotating by adding one to your seat number from yesterday, but the numbers were all random throughout the coach. Our first stop was to Honey Haven, we were given tastings of all their Honey wine products before being ushered into their shop to purchase more items.
Following this stop we drove to Gooree Park. Gooree Park Wines & Horse Stud. We were met by our hosts and given a complimentary glass of wine, then seated in the veranda area for a delicious Wagyu Beef Burger for lunch. Once we had all eaten, we boarded the coach again for a guided tour of the horse stud. Our Guide was Cathy, she had worked on the stud for over forty years. Her commentary was extremely informative and entertaining, she calls a spade a spade. We drove around and saw many retired racehorses and many pregnant mares in the various paddocks. The property was originally purchased by a Filipino couple who bought up six adjoining farms, to convert into a Horse Stud and later included a one thousand acre vineyard. After tis tour we returned to our Motel for dinner and aa good nights sleep before returning back to Sydney on Friday.
Friday morning, up early and Breakfast at 7 am, bags into the coach by 8:20am then loading up and heading home. On the way, Colin took a detour to a lookout over Lake Windermere, we stopped briefly to take some photos then off to Portland.
When we arrived in Portland, we parked opposite some painted silo's, we all rushed to get a hot coffee as the weather was freezing, as usual there was a long queue at the coffee shop and a longer one at the only Loo in town. A walk around town revealed many vintage tin signs from the early days, many were reproductions, but all were interesting.
Back on board for another long drive back to Lithgow RSL for lunch. Once again, we were amazed by the lunch, A homemade beef Pie with side salad and bread roll, all ready and waiting for us as we arrived. Now full to bursting, we again boarded the coach to return to Sydney, but one more quick stop at Biplin to purchase Apple pies from the Fruit Bowl. Continued on dropping of the other passengers before arriving back at Antegra right on 6 pm. A great time was had by all. Please see the Photos below.
