The Postman's Run - Hawkesbury River - July 2019
Our outing for July was The Postman's Run from Berowra along the Hawkesbury River. Many of our members met at Lockies Pub at 7:15 am, we then caught the bus to Leppington Railway station where we met a few more members.
We boarded the train and changed at Strathfield, where we met two more members. Unfortunately the train was delayed for forty minutes and we thought we would miss the ferry but Mary rang the ferry people and they assured us they would wait for the train and they did.
Once we left the dock we were served with tea or coffee and homemade Anzac biscuits. The views were amzing and the captain had a running commentary on the islands and the local attractions as we cruised along.
Around midday they served up a ploughman's lunch which was delicious and very filling, this was followed by more tea and coffee and a nice after dinner chocolate. There was a bar on board and some participated in a glass or two of beverage. A great time was had by all.
When we returned to Brooklyn we caught the trains back home and arrived around 3:30 pm
