Tom Thumb Cruise August 2026
Tuesday 11th August (Census night).
Today was our excursion to Cronulla and a cruise on the Tom Thumb III, twenty one of our members either drove or trained to Gunnamatta Bay where our ferry was waiting. Once aboard, there was tea and coffee plus biscuits for morning tea, which were available throughout the cruise. Our captain gave an informative running commentary along the way, pointing out points of interest and historical places.
Unfortunately, the wooden seats were a little hard on our old bodies and the cushions they supplied had no filling. That was the only bad thing on an otherwise great day out on the water. We cruised all of Port Hacking, then the Hacking River, north and south arm before returning to our starting point.
From the ferry many of us walked into town and had lunch at the Parc Hotel, a nice modern hotel with good food and atmosphere. After lunch we all returned by car and train back home after a lovely day on the water. Thanks to Dianne for organising this outing.
